One could feel the excitement as they entered CRC Restaurant on the evening of 31st December 2019, all geared up for the most anticipated event of the year – CRC 127th Anniversary Annual Dinner. Everyone came dressed to the hilt to the theme that was chosen – Colourful Gala Night. To immortalise the memories of the evening, an instant photo booth with fancy props was set up for members to get their pictures taken and printed instantly for them to take home.
The event kicked off with the marching in of the General Committee, ushered by 5678 Studio dancers who performed an astounding opening dance, followed by the Club’s President Speech. President Benson Goh recorded his sincere appreciation for the opportunity and trust given to him to lead the Club to a prestigious level. In his speech, Benson emphasised that the new measures taken in regards to the Club’s management and establishment of multiple Sports Academy is a long but fruitful pathway for CRC to become an esteemed Club in years to come. The event continued with a gimmick to celebrate the Club’s 127th Anniversary.
The evening was energetic with the presence of master of ceremony Joanne Tan who kept the attendees in high spirits with her witty banter. Members were very delighted when Joanne announced the top prizes for the lucky draws which consisted of two units of Huawei Nova 5T, a unit of GoPro Hero 7, an iPad Mini and an Apple Watch Series 5, amongst other extravagant prizes sponsored by multiple companies and corporations.
It was great food, great entertainment and great ambiance all night long with dance performance by 5678 Studio and live music by Superband. The band performed hits such as Uptown Funk, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You and Broad Sky. It was even more joyful as members, especially from the Line Dancing Section took over the dance floor to show their routine dance moves. Attendees had a brief but much needed respite from the dancing with extraordinary karaoke performance by the Karaoke Section member Ch’ng Choon Hai and Celine Goh. Member then had roaring laughter as Samuel Chong tickled everyone with his incredible tricks of a magic show.
Members of all ages happily joined in the merriment of dancing, singing, fun games and lucky draws while waiting for the New Year’s Countdown. Everyone gathered around the stage as entertainment of the night was taken up a notch with singers joining the fiery dance floor. As the clock strikes midnight, the venue echoed with popping confetti and members wishing Happy New Year to one another.
